Ph:+917895683197 Abstract: Objective: Giant cell tumor (GCT) represents around 4-5% of all primary bone tumors. The purpose of this article is to report this unusual case of benign metastasizing GCT and simultaneously emphasize on the role of immunomarkers in predicting the aggressive behaviour of such lesions and a brief review of literature along with the proposed management strategies in these patients. Case: We report a rare case of benign GCT in a 24 years old Asian female. Initial presentation of the disease was 9 years back with involvement of lower end of right humerus; development of a multicentric lesion in right 4 th

A very rare case of metachronous multicentric giant cell tumor of bone with benign lung metastasis in form of a very large mass lesion

Giant cell tumour (GCT) is a benign, locally aggressive tumour of the bone that accounts for 5% of primary bone tumours and 21% of benign bone tumours. This tumour more commonly presents as a single (solitary) lesion; however, it may appear with multiple (multicentric) lesions in less than 1% of the cases. According to the literature, 1-9% of solitary GCTs metastasizes to the lung, more commonl...

Giant cell tumor of patella: A case report and review of literature

Objective: Patella is a sesamoid bone which develops in the quadriceps tendon. It is an uncommon site for neoplasms. The most common primary tumors which involve patella are benign. These include chondroblastoma, giant cell tumor (GCT) and aneurysmal bone cyst. Malignant lesions are less common in patella. These encompass metastasis, osteosarcoma and hemangioendothelioma. The most common compla...

Prediction of Clinical Course and Biologic Behavior of the Bone Giant Cell Tumor Using Bax and bcl-2 Markers

Background and Objectives: Giant cell Tumor of bone (GCT) is often regarded as a benign tumor, but its clinical course is unpredictable, has a high rate of recurrence, and even can metastases and transform to a malignant tumor. Histological features of the tumor often could not predict its future biologic behavior, so it is just called ''Giant cell tumor'' without indicating maligna...

Giant Keratocystic Odontogenic Tumor: Three Cases and a Literature Review

Introduction: A keratocystic odontogenic tumor is a benign intra-bone mass originating from dental lamina or its residue. It represents 2–11% of jaw cysts, and has a slow but aggressive growth. The evaluation of molecular characteristics, immunohistochemistry, and genetic expression currently have no established classification regarding the evolution and pathophysiologic pattern of these lesion...

Giant Cell Tumor of Bone - an Overview

Giant Cell tumors (GCT) are benign tumors with potential for aggressive behavior and capacity to metastasize. Although rarely lethal, benign bone tumors may be associated with a substantial disturbance of the local bony architecture that can be particularly troublesome in peri-articular locations. Its histogenesis remains unclear. It is characterized by a proliferation of mononuclear stromal ...
